Great actors understand how to hold an audience’s attention and leave a lasting impression on their thoughts, feelings and actions. These are critical skills for today’s salespeople struggling to gain the attention of busy decision-makers and differentiate themselves from the competition. Acting offers practical, effective lessons on how to quickly engage, motivate and inspire others.
In my blog I share tips and insights from my experience as a salesperson and a professional actor on how to blend sales strategy with proven techniques from the performing arts, including acting, storytelling and improvisation. Although I attended a variety of training programs as a seller, it wasn’t until I started applying the techniques I learned as an actor to my sales process that I began to achieve success.
Each week I address a selling challenge and offer salespeople a fresh perspective and unique tools for giving prospects an experience to remember and moving them to take action by applying an acting technique, such as the actor’s secrets for engaging an audience, tips for using a script, the rules of improvisation for handling objections or how to effectively add a prop to your sales presentation.
I am committed to making these concepts easy-to-use for salespeople of all experience levels and they require no acting background to understand and benefit from their application. Because at their heart, acting and selling are about “taking action,” I provide practical exercises and “how to” tips as opposed to a lot of theory.
